Eye-opening blog about what the problem really may be…
For those of you who missed Think Big, Work Small this morning… according to InterThinx, the mortgage
fraud specialists, appraisal fraud is up 46% from the same time in 2008. InterThinx
But wait, who would be the perpetrators, has not HVCC made us safe? Thanks to HVCC, Mortgage brokers, those evil, underhanded, self-serving scourges of real estate and sole cause of the mortgage crisis have not been able to order appraisals (except FHA) or even talk to appraisers in the third quarter of 2009.
OMG, that leaves (choke) the innocent victims of wicked mortgage brokers, Banks. There must be some mistake because we all know that banks would never do anything underhanded.
I am sure we will soon learn, probably from a trusted politician, that, possibly, the cause was appraisers still tainted by previous mortgage broker contact. These appraisers will certainly be sent to rehab at taxpayer expense.
Soon, thank god, due to vigilent efforts of our trusted banks and politicians, the world will be a better place. Mortgage brokers will have disappeared, banks will make all home loans unfettered by pesky competitors and politicians will be provided will deserved taxpayer paid Cayman Island vacations to visit their secret bank accounts.
Is that the happy ending what you want?

Now this is getting Ridiculous
Moses Lake Real Estate….Yep I said it, I’ve gone there, I’m shaking my head in frustration. The banks right now are so busy trying to cover their butts that they now have addendums and contracts to sign for EVERYTHING. Just recently I have
been inundated with paperwork from the banks that now I as the agent have to sign. Here sign this thing saying there are no other addendum other then what you sent to the bank already. Here sign this that says you know the client gets their earnest money back if the appraisal comes back low. Isn’t this a transaction between the seller and the buyer? Why the heck do I need to start signing my name to these things?
Along with this has come more inspections. Brand new house? We still need you to get the septic inspected by an outside source. Community water system? We don’t care we want the flow rate for it. It has seriously gotten to the point of virtually ridiculous. Banks can’t seem to find the middle ground for real estate. They are so busy right now with CYA that they are going to make everybody else responsible for their bad lending practices and absolve themselves of all responsibility.
Maybe I’m just over-reacting to the stacks of FHA documentation I had to go thru and sign today. It’s frustrating to see perfectly legitimate transactions go sideways because the banks think that you crossed your eyes wrong at them. The scary thing is though is that I don’t think we’ve even seen the worst of it yet. Bring it on banks, I will see your craziness and deal with it through gritted teeth and a smile.

Have Banks Overstayed Their Welcome
The first bank can be traced back to 1407 which was founded in Italy now I ask of you, what other institution is there that has basically been around and been run the same as it was when it began?
Ok you’re right the world’s oldest profession and we all know what that is! 
But besides that is there any other industry that has survived as long as banks have? It begs the question have banks outlived their usefulness? Granted we need somewhere safe to put our money but there has to be other ways out there then just going back to the same thing we have been using since 1407.
It seems that the banks have not grasped the fact that business needs to be done differently since the onslaught of this economic tragedy! They can’t accept the fact that million dollar bonuses shouldn’t be a right that comes with the job.
Is there a way to invest and keep our money in private companies that allows the companies to use it but yet still allows us access to our money as soon as we need it? Wouldn’t that help the companies as well as benefit ourselves. Since the banks are no longer supporting and loaning to those companies that they once lent to shouldn’t we just go around the banks and do it ourselves.
Sadly though we are so reliant on the banking system for the purchasing power that is so important in our lives. I don’t know if we’ll ever have a day where we don’t live under the control of the banks that are currently determining so many peoples futures right now.
It is up to us to get out from under the thumb of large corporations such as insurance agencies and banks and instead move more towards focused local industries as a way for us to help our own communities thrive. Keep your business local where you know what companies your money goes to support!

Banks really do prefer foreclosure- Smart Spending – MSN Money
New study says loan servicers lack financial incentive to modify mortgages.
Can you believe it, the truth is finally coming out. What it basically comes down to is that the banks are hiring servicers to modify the loans. These servicers have no financial stake in trying as hard as they can to modify existing loans. Because of this they are not being held accountable to the thousands of homeowners that need their help.
I saw this first hand the past couple weeks when in submitting a offer to an agent who then had to submit to a “servicing” company that was in charge of listing bank-owned property.
We took them an offer for only $20,000 under asking price, all cash offer, close in two weeks. You know what we got? NADA, NOTHING, NO RESPONSE! That’s right banks, your servicers aren’t working for you they are working for themselves!
Instead the servicers contract was almost up so they decided to cancel the listing and quickly throw it up on an auction site for 5 days to see if it would sell that way. IT DIDN’T! The highest offer it got was $50,000 less then what we offered which didn’t clear their reserve minimum apparently.
Well here we are again, the unit is now back on the market with the same agent thank-goodness except now back at Countrywide. The agent contacted me today and I said “great submit the offer.” Her response back left me confused…
“Usually buyers go away mad. Thank you!”
It’s not her fault obviously I don’t know why people would take offense to the idiocy of banks. But here we are starting over again and hopefully that the “servicing” company is out of this we can actually get down to the business of selling houses!
